PRODUCER/REPORTER
"On Second Thought" at GPB News, Jan. thru May 2018
After serving as the Fall 2017 newsroom intern at GPB, I was promoted to a part-time position in the new year. While staying full-time enrolled in school, I took on a full roster of duties with GPB's daily newsmagazine program: pitching, booking, field recording, producing, and mentoring our intern team (yes, really). See a couple of my favorite projects below, or browse more of my work for GPB here.
POST-PARKLAND PROTEST COVERAGE
The week after the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, protests erupted all over the country. I reported on what was expected to be the largest student walkout in Atlanta as part of GPB's "wheel" of coverage.
PUPPETRY AND STEM: A MATCH MADE IN HEAVEN?
I produced this audio postcard after attending a special session at the Center for Puppetry Arts, Atlanta's most criminally underrated cultural attraction. The crux of the event was helping children better understand STEM principles through the lens of puppetry.
OLD TRASH TELLS SOME TALES
This segment was part of a long-running series On Second Thought did on quirky classes and academic projects throughout the state. I pitched these urban archaeologists who had been digging up Atlantan garbage from the 1800s — and had them actually bring some artifacts into the studio to show off.
